In the early hours of August 3, 2023, Adrrell Taylor, a 26-year-old Black / African American man, was found shot in an Omaha, Nebraska yard. Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 1700 block of Oakwood Circle at approximately 2:30 a.m. and discovered Taylor. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Remembered as a hardworking electrician with a loud and contagious laugh, Taylor was a graduate of Millard North High School, where he had been a
running back for the school's football team. Tragically, his death mirrored the violent end his father met nearly 12 years prior. His mother, Tammy Taylor, expressed her profound grief, stating that her son was "brutally murdered" in the same manner as his father.
Following an investigation, the Omaha Police Department identified a suspect in connection with Taylor's murder. On August 24, 2023, 33-year-old Kye Moss was arrested in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with the assistance of the Minneapolis Police Department and the North Star Fugitive Task Force. Moss faced charges of first-degree murder, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a weapon by a prohibited person. He was awaiting extradition back to Omaha to face the charges.
