On the night of February 28, 2025, the flashing hazard lights of a white 2008 Toyota Camry on the shoulder of Interstate 15 drew the attention of passing Idaho State Police troopers. It was approximately 10:30 p.m. near milepost 85 in Bingham County when they pulled over to offer assistance. Inside the vehicle, they discovered the driver, 27-year-old Hispanic male Alexander Jose Duran Pirela of Mapleton, Utah, deceased.
