On February 10, 2017, 30-year-old David Lee Davis was fatally shot at the Pingree residence of 48-year-old Melonie Smith in Bingham County, Idaho. The incident began when Kevin Day, a former roommate of Davis, shot him twice in the legs upon his arrival at Smith's home. Day testified that he disliked Davis due to past conflicts and, after shooting him, handed the pistol to Smith and fled the scene.
