In the small city of Quitman, Georgia, a life was cut tragically short on the evening of Monday, April 28, 2025. Edward Denson, a 25-year-old man, was fatally shot in an incident that prompted an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at the request of the local police department. The shooting occurred in the 200 block of West Hill Street, and despite being rushed to the hospital, Denson was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the death of Edward Denson quickly pointed to a suspect. Law enforcement identified 20-year-old Khalil Proctor of Quitman as the alleged shooter. Warrants were issued for Proctor's arrest on serious charges, including felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. In a turn of events, Proctor voluntarily surrendered to the authorities at the Brooks County Jail the following day.
