On a dirt road in a rural stretch of South Georgia, the life of John Timothy Thompson, a 56-year-old male from East Liverpool, Ohio, came to a violent end. He was in the Quitman area on October 21, 2020, having traveled from Ohio with a group of men to visit family. What began as a trip to connect with relatives descended into a double homicide that left Thompson and another man, 36-year-old Deshaun Lamar Scott of Cleveland, Ohio, dead from gunshot wounds.
