In the quiet neighborhood near Memorial Park in Colorado Springs, the morning of January 25, 2025, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When police responded to reports of a shooting in the 800 block of South Union Boulevard around 8:15 a.m., they discovered a grim scene. Three men were found deceased, their lives abruptly ended by violence. One of the victims was 20-year-old Manuel Alberto Villafan, a Hispanic male who had his whole life ahead of him.
Alongside him were 21-year-old Raymond Padilla and 33-year-old Nicholas Medina.
Manuel, known to his loved ones as Manny, was a resident of Southern Colorado and a graduate of The Goal Academy. He was working as a warehouse employee at Amazon and was filled with optimism for the future, buoyed by the support of his girlfriend, Abby Coca. He was just beginning to find his path in life, making his sudden and violent death all the more tragic for the family and friends he left behind, including his parents, siblings, and a large extended family who cherished him.
The triple homicide, which marked the fourth, fifth, and sixth in the city for 2025, sent a wave of concern through the local community, with residents near the crime scene expressing fear for their safety.
