In the late evening of February 25, 2025, the life of 38-year-old James Lee Flowers Jr., a Black male from Paron, Arkansas, came to a tragic end in Little Rock. At approximately 8:41 p.m., officers with the Northwest Patrol Division were dispatched to 1001 South Bowman Road to check on the welfare of an individual in a vehicle. Upon their arrival, they discovered Flowers inside, suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services were promptly called to the
scene. After initial treatment, Flowers was transported to a local hospital in a fight for his life. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The Pulaski County Coroner's Office later arranged for his body to be taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the official cause and manner of death.
As officers worked to secure the area and piece together the events that led to the shooting, they came into contact with 32-year-old Rodrick Alexander Jr. Alexander was detained at the scene and taken to the Major Crimes Division for questioning. Homicide detectives were notified and began a thorough investigation, canvassing the neighborhood for potential witnesses and searching for any available surveillance footage that might shed light on the incident.
Following an interview with detectives, Rodrick Alexander Jr. was released without charges, pending a review of the case file. The investigation into the death of James Flowers Jr. remains active and ongoing as authorities continue to seek answers in this homicide case. Born on July 16, 1986, to James Flowers and Betty Koon, James is survived by his mother and a sister.
