In the early morning hours of a Saturday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a gathering at a private residence on Herman Avenue took a tragic turn. On February 15, 2025, amidst the sounds of a house party, a confrontation escalated into violence, forever altering the lives of those present. It was at approximately 1:30 a.m. that the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit was dispatched to the scene following reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a grim scene.
Two individuals had been struck by bullets in the chaotic moments that had unfolded. One of them, a 28-year-old man named Jordan Davis, was found with fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, a 45-year-old, sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The investigation into the shooting was swift. Through witness interviews and the collection of evidence, authorities were able to piece together the events that led to the deadly encounter. The investigation pointed to an altercation at the party as the catalyst for the gunfire. In connection with the homicide, police arrested 28-year-old Weslie Darnell Tinker.
Tinker was subsequently charged with one count of murder for the death of Jordan Davis. He was taken into custody and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where he was held without bond.
