On the evening of March 30, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Tuscaloosa police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1800 block of Queen City Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a wrecked vehicle two blocks away, inside which was 37-year-old Tuscaloosa resident, Rufus Tyrone "Boot" Carter IV, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Carter was promptly transported to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
