Ralph Lester Payne, a 61-year-old man from Underwood-Petersville, Alabama, tragically lost his life on April 15, 2025, in what authorities have determined to be a murder-suicide. The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a suspicious person in the area of Ingram Street. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an injured woman suffering from a single gunshot wound. She was later identified as the stepmother of the suspect, 34-year-old Jesse Payne.
