On April 1, 2017, Abdul Smith, a 43-year-old resident of Montgomery, Alabama, was fatally shot. At approximately 5:10 p.m., Montgomery Police Department officers and Fire Medics responded to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of Clover Hill Drive. Upon arrival, they found Smith suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
