Sean Dubs, a 1-year-old child, disappeared along with his parents, Harvey and Deborah Dubs, from their San Francisco apartment on July 25, 1984. Their disappearance was later linked to Charles Chitat Ng and Leonard Lake, two individuals responsible for a series of abductions and murders in Northern California between July 1984 and April 1985.
Authorities uncovered evidence connecting Ng and Lake to multiple missing persons after Lake was caught attempting to shoplift a vise in June
1985. While being questioned, Lake committed suicide by ingesting cyanide. This led investigators to his property in Wilseyville, California, where they discovered human remains, victims' belongings, and a hidden prison cell. Ng fled to Canada but was arrested for shoplifting in July 1985.
Ng was eventually extradited to the United States in 1991 and charged with 11 counts of first-degree murder, including the killing of Sean Dubs and his parents. The trial, which faced multiple delays, began in October 1998 and concluded in February 1999, with Ng being convicted and sentenced to death.
The case remains one of the most infamous serial murder investigations in California history, highlighting the horrifying crimes committed by Ng and Lake. Their victims, including Sean Dubs, suffered unimaginable brutality before their tragic deaths.
