Lee Jackson Zumwalt Sr., aged 86, passed away on February 17, 1979, in Junction City, Lane County, Oregon. His death was later linked to a series of alleged mercy killings carried out by a nursing home orderly named Otha Harrison Hart. Hart, a former Eugene Nursing Home aide, confessed to administering lethal insulin injections to four patients, including Zumwalt, claiming that they had requested assistance in ending their suffering.
