On December 10, 2011, Thourn Nhep, a 46-year-old mechanic and father of three, was killed in a drive-by shooting while he was in bed at his home in Oakland, California. The incident occurred in the early morning hours at East 28th Street near 11th Avenue. Nhep's house was sprayed with bullets while his family slept, and he was fatally struck by a bullet that passed through the wall. The attack left his wife and children uninjured, though it understandably caused great trauma to the family.
