John Avalos, a 38-year-old resident of Oakland, California, tragically lost his life on January 21, 2022, during a violent gun battle between rival gang members. Avalos, who had no known connections to the gangs involved, was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire while dropping off food for a friend who was quarantined with COVID-19.
