Originally from Pennsylvania and one of ten children, Jamison was a decorated United States Army veteran who had served as a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War. After his military service, he earned an accounting degree from Temple University and settled in New Jersey, living in the Colfax Manor Apartments on St. Georges Avenue in Roselle Park. He was employed by Haug Die Casting Co. in the nearby town of Kenilworth. Friends and family described him as a responsible and reliable man, making his sudden disappearance all the more perplexing and concerning.

He was a man of notable stature at five feet nine inches and around 220 pounds, with dark brown hair, green eyes, and two distinctive scars, one under his chin and another on his right ear.
