Sonja Brandon was one of the eleven women brutally murdered by Andre Crawford, a serial killer who terrorized Chicago's Englewood neighborhood between 1993 and 1999. Crawford targeted women, many of whom were involved in prostitution or struggling with drug addiction, luring them into abandoned buildings under the pretense of exchanging drugs for sex.
