In the winter of 1990, the life of Elisa Sue Martinez, a 17-year-old Hispanic female, was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence that left a lasting scar on the small community of Graceville, Minnesota. A junior in high school, Elisa was known for her vibrant personality and was actively involved in both music and sports. On the evening of February 16th, she had plans to have a late Valentine's dinner with her best friend before visiting her boyfriend.
After leaving her home, she was never seen alive again.
Concern grew when Elisa failed to return home that night. The following morning, her car was discovered abandoned in a ditch near Beardsley. The chilling discovery of footprints in the snow leading from the vehicle to a desolate, abandoned farm site initiated a frantic search. Tragically, her brutally beaten body was found inside a granary on the property. The investigation revealed that she had suffered severe head trauma, inflicted with a wooden board, and had also been manually strangled. The evidence also pointed to a sexual assault.
