Clair Owen Pollard, an 80-year-old white male, had spent a lifetime helping other people rebuild their lives before violence found its way into his quiet Norman, Oklahoma home in November 2011. Born in Milo, Maine in December 1930, he built a long career in rehabilitation and social services, rising through the State of Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services and eventually directing statewide vocational rehabilitation programs before retiring and relocating to Norman in the mid-1980s.
