Edward Elkington, an 83-year-old white male architect from California, was found dead on February 26, 1978. His body was discovered in a culvert along Interstate 40 near Tucumcari, New Mexico. The cause of death was determined to be suffocation with a pillow. Elkington had been traveling when he was picked up by Billy Dean Battenfield and a teenage boy. The teenager, who was 15 years old at the time, later informed authorities about Battenfield's involvement in Elkington's murder and led them to ...
