William Ramos, a 30-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, was a Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent assigned to the McAllen, Texas District Office. On December 31, 1986, he was shot and killed by a drug trafficking suspect during an undercover investigation in Las Milpas, Texas, near the Mexican border. Special Agent Ramos had joined the DEA in 1985, and prior to that, he had been a U.S. Border Patrol Agent and an Assistant Prosecutor in Mojave, Arizona.
