Christian Dawson, a 19-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on January 1, 2017, in Dallas, Texas. He was attending a New Year's Eve party at the Azure Banquet Hall when a fight broke out between two groups, leading to gunfire. Dawson was caught in the crossfire and was fatally shot. He was a sophomore at Langston University in Oklahoma and was visiting family in Dallas for the holidays.
