On May 9, 2022, 18-year-old Semaj Mills was fatally shot in the neck at a 7-Eleven store in east Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas. Officers found Mills shortly before 8 a.m. and he was transported to a nearby hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue, where he later died from his injuries. The Dallas Police Department launched an investigation into the incident, but initially did not identify any suspects.
