On January 5, 2004, in Lytle, Texas, 45-year-old Julia Sookran was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend, 54-year-old Carlos Rodriguez, at a local bar and grill. The incident occurred following an argument between the two, during which Rodriguez drew a firearm and shot Julia. A police officer who was present, working security at the establishment, attempted to intervene but was unable to prevent the tragedy.
