On January 5, 2004, in Lytle, Texas, 45-year-old Julia Sookran was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend, 54-year-old Carlos Rodriguez, at a local bar and grill. The incident occurred following an argument between the two, during which Rodriguez drew a firearm and shot Julia. A police officer who was present, working security at the establishment, attempted to intervene but was unable to prevent the tragedy. After shooting Julia, Rodriguez turned the gun on himself, resulting in his own death.
