Joshua Shane Mitchell, a 26-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity, was a Deputy Sheriff with the Reagan County Sheriff's Office in Big Lake, Texas. On August 1, 2012, he was fatally shot while responding to a call about a suicidal suspect. Mitchell and other officers encountered the suspect in the 1100 block of Main Street, where the suspect opened fire, fatally wounding Mitchell. Despite being rushed to a hospital in San Angelo, Mitchell succumbed to his injuries.
