Larry Leslie Fawver, a 67-year-old man from Lubbock, Texas, tragically died on July 13, 2019. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1976. Larry followed his childhood dream of driving a Big Rig and worked as a truck driver for 45 years.
Larry's death occurred during a robbery at his South Lubbock home.
His wife, Elida Fawver, witnessed the incident and saw him being surrounded by three masked men who demanded money. Larry yelled at his wife to run as the men were armed with guns. Unfortunately, Larry was shot and succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation led to the arrest of multiple suspects. Felix Alonzo, Larry's step-grandson, was one of the individuals involved in planning the robbery. Alonzo was later sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in the crime. Another suspect, Hassan N. Abdurahman, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and received a 15-year prison sentence. Two juvenile suspects were also involved and received determinate sentences in the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.
The case was a tragic and heartbreaking event for Larry's family and the community. Despite the loss, Larry's memory lives on through the love and respect of those who knew him.
