On January 27, 2024, 26-year-old Eduardo Sebastian Alamillo Martinez was found deceased alongside 24-year-old Jose Santiago Sanchez at a residence in the 6800 block of Greystone Drive in Brownsville, Texas. Both men, residents of Hidalgo County, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services.
The Cameron County Sheriff's Office promptly initiated a murder investigation, gathering evidence and obtaining statements from witnesses. By January 29, investigators had identified two suspects: brothers Enrique "Kiko" Gutierrez and Odilon Gutierrez, both from Brownsville. Arrest warrants were issued on January 30, charging the Gutierrez brothers with capital murder of multiple persons. Authorities believe the brothers fled to Mexico after the crime, departing in a light gray or silver 2018-2020 Ford F-150.
On February 2, a SWAT team executed a search warrant at the suspects' residence on Jenika Avenue in Brownsville, seeking evidence related to the double homicide and information on the brothers' whereabouts. Despite these efforts, the Gutierrez brothers remained at large. The Cameron County Sheriff's Office has urged anyone with information to contact them or the Cameron County Crime Stoppers, offering the possibility of a cash reward for tips leading to the suspects' apprehension.
In the wake of this tragedy, Eduardo's family arranged funeral services to honor his memory. Visitation was held on February 6, 2024, at Salinas Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas, followed by a funeral service on February 7. Interment took place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna, Texas. Eduardo is survived by his son, Eduardo Sebastian Alamillo Jr., his brothers, Homero Rodriguez Jr., Alejandro Rodriguez, Kevin Garcia, and his sister, Lizette Rodriguez.
As of now, the investigation into the murders of Eduardo Alamillo and Jose Santiago Sanchez continues. Law enforcement agencies are actively seeking leads to locate and apprehend Enrique and Odilon Gutierrez. The community remains vigilant, hoping for justice for the victims and their families.
