Robert Carey Deckard Jr., a 31-year-old male police officer with the San Antonio Police Department, tragically died on December 20, 2013. He was shot in the head on December 8, 2013, while pursuing armed robbery suspects. Deckard, who was highly respected and known for his dedication to his community, spent 13 days in the intensive care unit at San Antonio Military Medical Center before succumbing to his injuries.
