On October 31, 2014, Daniel Martinez, a 34-year-old Hispanic male, was fatally shot in southwest Houston. That evening, Martinez and another individual walked to a store in the 9600 block of South Gessner. After leaving the store, they entered an alley behind a nearby apartment complex, where they encountered an armed man. During the confrontation, Martinez was shot. He attempted to flee but collapsed and died from his injuries.
