On October 31, 2014, Daniel Martinez, a 34-year-old Hispanic male, was fatally shot in southwest Houston. That evening, Martinez and another individual walked to a store in the 9600 block of South Gessner. After leaving the store, they entered an alley behind a nearby apartment complex, where they encountered an armed man. During the confrontation, Martinez was shot. He attempted to flee but collapsed and died from his injuries.
Investigators believe the suspect involved in Martinez's death is connected to at least two other fatal robberies in southwest Houston within the same timeframe. On November 11, 2014, Juan Obispo Chamorro was shot and killed in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 5900 block of Rampart. A witness reported that two armed men opened fire during a robbery, and Chamorro tried to escape but collapsed and died. Eighteen days later, on November 29, 2014, Jose R. Moreira was fatally shot during a robbery at the same apartment complex.
The primary suspect in these cases is described as a slender Black male in his early to mid-20s, standing between 6'2" and 6'6" tall, with long hair worn in dreadlocks. A composite sketch of this individual has been released to the public in hopes of identifying him. The second suspect is described as a Black male in his 30s, approximately 5'8" tall, with a slim build, dark skin, and long straight hair. Authorities have urged anyone with information about these murders or the suspects to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS .
As of now, there have been no reports of arrests related to the death of Daniel Martinez, the 34-year-old Hispanic male. The investigation remains ongoing, and law enforcement continues to seek assistance from the public to bring those responsible to justice.
