On October 1, 2024, 32-year-old landscaper Bradric Kuykendall was fatally shot at a gas station near Hillcroft Avenue and Airport Boulevard in Houston, Texas. The incident stemmed from an earlier altercation over illegally dumped trash near the residence of the alleged shooter, 27-year-old Imran Ahmed Davis. Surveillance footage revealed that after the dispute, Davis followed Kuykendall to the gas station, where he fired multiple shots from his vehicle, striking Kuykendall.
Kuykendall was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Houston Police Department charged Davis with murder and aggravated assault in the 337th State District Court. Despite these charges, Davis remained at large, prompting law enforcement to release a 2020 booking photo in efforts to locate him. Authorities urged anyone with information regarding Davis's whereabouts to contact the HPD Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers.
Kuykendall's family, deeply affected by the loss, described him as a well-respected individual who was dearly missed by his children, family, and friends. His mother, Letitia Kuykendall, expressed disbelief that her son lost his life over a dispute concerning trash, emphasizing the senselessness of the act. The family appealed to Davis to surrender to authorities, seeking justice for Bradric.
As of November 4, 2024, Davis had not been apprehended, and the search for him continued. The Houston Police Department had no updates on his whereabouts, and the family continued to plead for answers, hoping for a resolution to the case.
