On April 29, 2015, Mettha Chandra Kuruppu, a 52-year-old male of Indian ethnicity, was tragically shot and killed during an armed robbery at his convenience store, Pick-N-Shop, located on South Major Drive in Beaumont, Texas. Kuruppu was working behind the counter when two masked men entered the store with the intent to rob it. The incident was captured on surveillance video, which showed the assailants attempting to rob the store.
