On December 25, 2020, Christopher Damond Brown, a 25-year-old man from Orange, Texas, was fatally shot in the parking lot of the End-Zone Sports Lounge in Beaumont, Texas. Brown was found with a gunshot wound to his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Ben Collins. Following the shooting, the Beaumont Police
Department issued a murder warrant for Fredrick Carnell Harden, a 50-year-old resident of Beaumont. Harden was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault issued earlier that month. Harden was considered armed and dangerous, and police urged the public to notify authorities if they had any information about his whereabouts.
In June 2021, nearly six months after Brown's death, Harden was arrested and taken into custody. The trial for Harden began later that year, and in October 2023, a Jefferson County jury found him guilty of first-degree murder.
