In the early afternoon of June 3, 2026, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a South Beaumont, Texas neighborhood, leaving a family and community to grapple with the sudden and tragic loss of 17-year-old Arin Antwine. The incident, which also left two 15-year-old boys wounded, unfolded in the backyard of a home in the 4200 block of Ogden Avenue. First responders arrived to a chaotic scene, finding the three teenagers with gunshot wounds.
All three were rushed to a nearby hospital, but Arin Antwine succumbed to his injuries. The two younger teens were treated for non-life-threatening wounds. The violence that erupted that day stemmed from a gun transaction that took a deadly turn over a pricing dispute.
The investigation into the shooting quickly identified two suspects. Within 24 hours of the incident, law enforcement had both individuals in custody. The first to be apprehended was 18-year-old Larry Stoker, who was arrested at a residence in the city of Orange on the evening of the shooting. The following morning, the second suspect, 18-year-old Christopher Bushnell, was located and taken into custody in Baytown. The swift arrests were the result of a collaborative effort between the Beaumont Police Department, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, and the Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force. A credible witness positively identified both Bushnell and Stoker as being involved in the fatal shooting.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the tragic events were set in motion when a disagreement over the price of a firearm escalated to violence. It is alleged that Christopher Bushnell was the individual who opened fire on Arin Antwine and the two other teenagers. While Larry Stoker is not accused of firing a weapon, authorities state that he was driving the getaway vehicle, and fled the scene with Bushnell immediately after the shooting. Both Bushnell and Stoker have been charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
