Summary based on 11 sources
Deshawndrey Bowman, a 24-year-old African American male from Beaumont, Texas, was fatally shot on January 24, 2025. The incident occurred near the intersection of Brooklyn Street and Madison Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered damaged car parts and three cell phones lying in the roadway, but neither Bowman nor his vehicle was initially found. After searching the area, police located a black Chevrolet Malibu at Sycamore Street and Gulf States Road, where Bowman was found in the driver's seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries three days later, on January 27.

An autopsy revealed that Bowman had been shot five times. Investigators discovered a large quantity of narcotics, a firearm, and spent shell casings inside his vehicle, leading them to suspect that Bowman was involved in drug trafficking. Authorities believe that Bowman was lured to a vacant house on Sherman Street under the pretense of a drug transaction. Once he arrived, he was shot while sitting in his car.

Two suspects were indicted in connection with Bowman's murder. Giovanni Coleman, a 17-year-old male, and Jacorian Flemings, a 20-year-old male, were charged with first-degree murder by a Jefferson County grand jury on April 30, 2025. Flemings turned himself in on April 4 after Beaumont Police obtained a murder warrant for his arrest. Coleman was arrested on February 3 with assistance from the U.S. Marshal's Task Force and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Authorities allege that Coleman lured Bowman to the location and fired multiple rounds from the passenger side of the vehicle.

Further investigation into Coleman's phone revealed numerous pictures and videos of him posing with various firearms, including AR-15 and AK-style rifles, as recently as January 21, 2025. During questioning, Coleman denied knowing Bowman, but phone data contradicted his statements, showing multiple calls and text messages between the two in the weeks leading up to the shooting.

The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not disclosed additional details regarding the motive behind the shooting.
