Ephriam Rendell “Tone” Prewitt, a 29-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, died on August 15, 2010.
In the early hours of that Sunday morning, a call about gunfire drew Kansas City police to the 5500 block of Michigan Avenue. It was about 4:31 a.m. when officers arrived and found Prewitt dead outside, in front of a residence near East 55th Street and Michigan—another life lost in a summer that was already weighing heavily on the city.
