On September 14, 2010, Corey Marnall Leggs, a 33-year-old Black male from Kansas City, Missouri, lost his life in an act of violence that occurred while he was performing a favor for an acquaintance. Leggs was driving his vehicle with two passengers, one of whom would later be identified in reports as the suspected shooter. The group was traveling to a residence near the intersection of Benton Boulevard and 33rd Street.
