Corey Marnall Leggs, a 33-year-old Black man from Kansas City, Missouri, lived his entire life in the community where he would ultimately lose it. Born in 1977 and rooted in Kansas City, he was known enough and loved enough that when he died, his name quickly appeared in obituaries and memorial pages, marking out the bare facts of a life that ended too soon: his full name, his age, and the September 14, 2010 date when everything stopped.
