In a quiet Mesa, Arizona neighborhood on December 19, 2021, the life of 19-year-old Adam Boone Williams, a white male, was tragically cut short. Just after noon, near Baseline Road and Val Vista Drive, a 911 call was placed by Adam's father, Jeffrey Williams, who reported that he had shot his son. When law enforcement arrived at the residence, Jeffrey Williams surrendered to them without a struggle.

Inside the home, officers were directed to Adam's bedroom, where they found him lying in his bed with a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The incident was classified by authorities as being related to domestic violence. Following the event, Jeffrey Williams, then 61 years old, was taken into custody and booked into the Maricopa County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder. He was held on a $1,000,000 bond.

According to police reports, Jeffrey Williams had voiced worries about his son's mental health, stating that Adam was dealing with depression and bipolar disorder and had not been taking his prescribed medication. This had reportedly led to behavioral health-related issues in the past. Adam, who was born on June 11, 2002, in Mesa, had spent his entire life in the area and was a 2020 graduate of Gilbert High School. He had plans to further his education at Chandler Gilbert Community College. Known for his talents as a swimmer and his enjoyment of basketball, working on cars, and playing the acoustic guitar, his death sent shockwaves through the community, leaving friends and neighbors in disbelief.
