A recent graduate from Northern Arizona University with a degree in engineering, Alijah was described by his family as a free spirit with a wild soul who loved the outdoors and the sunshine. His warm personality and kindness were cherished by those who knew him, and he was just beginning his adult life with a promising future ahead.
The tragic events began to unfold
the day after Alijah's 24th birthday. On August 12, 2024, he was last seen alive. Concern grew when he failed to show up for work and uncharacteristically did not make his daily call to his mother. His family reported him missing on August 15th. In their search for answers, they discovered that his phone's last known location pinged at the apartment of his childhood friend, Samuel Bush. When confronted, Bush denied knowing Alijah's whereabouts. The family was able to track Alijah's vehicle to a remote desert area near Gila Bend, a location family members said he had no reason to be.
On August 19, 2024, the search came to a devastating end when authorities discovered Alijah Bradley's remains in the desert east of Gila Bend. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner subsequently ruled his death a homicide. The investigation led by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office soon focused on his long-time friend.
On September 4, 2024, authorities arrested 23-year-old Samuel Bush in connection with Alijah's murder. Bush is facing serious charges, including second-degree murder and concealing human remains. Disturbing details emerged suggesting that Alijah had been shot in the back and that his body was dismembered. Investigators believe Bush purchased a reciprocating saw after the shooting, which was then used in the horrific act. While a motive for this brutal crime has not been made clear, the arrest of his childhood friend has left Alijah's family and community in profound shock and grief. Samuel Bush is being held on a $1.5 million bond as the investigation continues.
