On September 28, 2015, Tony Scott Brazier, a 47-year-old White male, was fatally shot in Jacksonville, Texas. Born on December 17, 1967, in Jacksonville, he was the son of Jan and Tony Brazier. Scott was a member of the Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
Following the incident, two individuals were arrested in connection with the murder of Tony Scott Brazier. They were formally charged and arraigned for the offense of "Tampering With / Fabricating Physical Evidence."
Funeral services for Mr. Brazier were held on October 2, 2015, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville, with interment at Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Ponta. He was preceded in death by his father, Tony Brazier; grandparents, James Henry and Margaret Brazier, C.L. and Gwen Newburn; and an uncle, Lum Newburn III. Survivors include his mother, Jan Brazier, and aunt, Sharon Newburn.
The community mourned the loss of Tony Scott Brazier, lighting 23 candles in his memory on the Gun Violence Memorial website. The investigation into his death led to the arrest of two suspects, highlighting the ongoing issue of gun violence in the area.
