Mario Alberto Pulido, a 48-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically died on November 28, 2016, in Palmview, Texas. Pulido was on break from his overnight shift at H-E-B when he was shot and killed by his co-worker, Raul Lopez. The incident occurred in the breakroom, where Lopez opened fire on Pulido and injured three other co-workers.
Following the shooting, Raul Lopez was arrested and charged with capital murder.
The case went to trial, and Lopez was found guilty on multiple counts, including first-degree murder and attempted murder. The jury rejected Lopez's insanity defense and sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The trial concluded with Lopez receiving concurrent life sentences for the murder of Pulido and the attempted murders of the other victims.
