Gerardo Treviño, 43, male, was found dead just after midnight on Monday, October 20, 2025, at a rural home in the 4200 block of J & A Drive near Mission, Texas. Deputies with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office responded at about 1:37 a.m. to reports of gunfire and discovered Treviño deceased inside the residence. An obituary later confirmed his age and the date and place of death, while a public memorial page recorded that he was lost to gun violence that day in Mission.
Neighbors told investigators that an adult woman fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Deputies quickly located a female suspect nearby and detained her; local reporting described her arrest and referenced a rifle in her possession when she was taken into custody.
By the following day, authorities identified the suspect as 19-year-old Kayla Alejandra Gonzalez and announced a murder charge in Treviño’s killing. Officials said she would be formally arraigned on Tuesday afternoon, and Spanish-language coverage specified that the hearing was set for around 1:00 p.m. at the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center.
As of those initial reports, investigators had not publicly detailed a motive or the relationship, if any, between Gonzalez and Treviño. The case remained centered on the early-morning gunfire at the Mission address and the swift arrest of the 19-year-old on a murder charge pending arraignment.
