Heriberto Gomez, a 21-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically died on January 23, 2021, in Mission, Texas. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the abdomen, which he sustained during a confrontation. Gomez was transported to McAllen Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

He was detained at the Sarita checkpoint by Border Patrol agents and subsequently booked into the Hidalgo County Detention Center.
