Leonardo Veliz, a 22-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on October 14, 2021, in Mission, Texas. The incident occurred when Hidalgo County Sheriff's deputies responded to a disturbance involving gunshots being fired near 6 Mile Line Road and Bentsen Palm Drive. Upon arrival, deputies discovered two men with gunshot wounds in a vehicle. One of the victims, later identified as Leonardo Veliz, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
