In the late summer of 2012, a young man's life was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence in Kansas City, Missouri. Dewayne K. Whitelaw, a 23-year-old Black male, was with a friend on the evening of August 20th. As they traveled west on 66th Terrace, with Whitelaw standing on the side rails of the vehicle, the enjoyment of the moment was shattered by the sound of gunfire.
