Ulises Valladares, a 47-year-old Hispanic man from Houston, Texas, was tragically killed on January 25, 2018, during a botched FBI raid. Valladares was kidnapped from his home in Conroe, Texas, the day before his death. He was bound, gagged, and taken by kidnappers who demanded a ransom. His young son was also bound and gagged but was left behind at the house.

During the rescue attempt at a residence in northeast Houston, an FBI agent shot Valladares, claiming that Valladares grabbed the agent's gun during the operation. The agent's identity was never released.
Three suspects were arrested at the scene of the raid. One of the suspects, Delia Gualdina Velasquez, was later sentenced to 45 years in prison for her involvement in the kidnapping. Velasquez confessed to her role in the kidnapping, stating that she was upset with Valladares over a family dispute.
