Pamela Johnson, a 62-year-old white female, was found deceased in her home on Bent Pine Drive in Cypress, Texas, on July 13, 2018. Family members, concerned after not hearing from her since July 10, requested a welfare check, leading to the discovery of her body. She had been restrained and shot to death. Her maroon 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser was missing from the scene.
Surveillance footage later showed a man abandoning Johnson's vehicle at Willowbrook Mall.
The suspect was described as possibly Hispanic, between 30 to 35 years old, 5'7" to 5'9" tall, with short hair and tattoos on both forearms.
Jose Gilberto Rodriguez, a 46-year-old male, was identified as a suspect in Johnson's murder and other crimes. He was arrested on July 17, 2018, after a police chase. Rodriguez was later charged with capital murder for the deaths of Pamela Johnson and Edward Magaña, and a capital murder charge was pending in the death of Allie Barrow.
In 2023, Jose Gilberto Rodriguez pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including the murder of Pamela Johnson. He was sentenced to five life terms without the possibility of parole.
