Abraham Herrera Jr., an 18-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically passed away on July 13, 2018, in Lubbock, Texas. He was found outside a home in the 300 block of 79th Street with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead at University Medical Center. The incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. when the Lubbock Police Department received reports of shots fired.
Following an immediate investigation by the Persons Crimes Unit, a 15-year-old male was arrested and charged with murder on July 15, 2018. The suspect was identified within 24 hours of the incident, and it was determined that the shooting resulted from a dispute. The suspect's name has not been released due to his status as a minor.
The case remains under investigation by the Lubbock Police Department, with assistance from the Special Operations unit and the Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Center.
