On May 23, 2013, the Kansas City Police Department began an investigation into the death of Ashley Garren, a 21-year-old female who was found deceased in Kansas City, Missouri. The incident occurred in the 5400 block of Independence Avenue, a busy commercial corridor in the city’s Northeast area that houses several businesses, including a pharmacy and retail stores. Officers were called to the scene where they discovered the victim, and the case was subsequently classified as a homicide.
