In the summer of 2013, a young man's life was tragically cut short in a violent act that left a community searching for answers. Richard A. Preston III, a 23-year-old Black man, was forcefully taken from a street in Independence, Missouri, on the evening of July 20th. Witnesses saw him being pushed into a black Chevrolet Malibu near South Brookside Avenue before the vehicle sped away. This abduction marked the last time he was seen alive by those who knew him.
