In the early hours of a summer Sunday in 2013, a trip to visit friends ended in tragedy for Pierre Richard Mogene in Kansas City, Missouri. The 35-year-old Black male had just arrived in the city, but he would never make it to his friends' door. On July 28, 2013, Mogene was walking down the street at 2623 E. 8th Street when he was shot.
